Yeshwant Rao Holkar was the last holkar ruler of Indore. Indore remains under the rule of British Resident until 1947. The Opium fruit and leaves on the obverse of the coin indicates that Opium/Poppy Seeds was the major source revenue in that period. It is evident from various sources that  this plant''s products was in use since ancient times including the rule of Parmaras, Malwa Sultans, Mughals and Holkars. I think this Holkar coin is the unique example of using Opium Fruits and Leaves on the Currency.
